Campfire
Composers:
  • Spieker, Matthew
Detailed Instrumentation: String Orchestra

Duration: 3 minutes

Description: Campfire is written as a quasi–fiddle tune, drawing on idiomatic bowing patterns and rhythmic figures associated with fiddle style. The “Nashville Shuffle” is prominent throughout the work and is shared across the ensemble in most sections. There is a modified version of the bowing that includes a double up-bow at the end of the measure. Rhythmic variety is further enhanced by some running sixteenth-note passages.
