Two Pieces, Op. 37
Composers:
Detailed Instrumentation: Solo Piano- Gretchaninov, Alexander
Duration: 3 minutes
Description: TWO PIECES, Op. 37 was composed in the early 1900s (c. 1902–1904) by Alexander Gretchaninov (1864–1956), a Russian composer closely associated with the late-Romantic tradition and best known for his sacred choral music and richly lyrical instrumental works. Written during the final years of Imperial Russia’s flourishing musical culture, these miniatures reflect the salon repertoire of the era. Today TWO PIECES, Op. 37 occupy a modest but valued place in the repertoire, performed occasionally by students and professional musicians alike as representative examples of Gretchaninov’s Romantic voice outside his larger choral output. Reprint edition.
