Description: Alan Shulman’s Rendezvous was written for Benny Goodman and premiered over NBC radio August 19, 1946 with Goodman and Shulman’s Stuyvesant String Quartet. Alan added an optional bass part for a performance by the NBC Symphony with Alfred Gallodoro later that year. Originally titled Rendezvous With Benny, Alan changed the title to Rendezvous for Clarinet & Strings for Artie Shaw’s 1949 recording with the New Music Quartet. The version for clarinet and piano was published in 1948.
