Grand Duo Concertant, Op. 48/J. 204
Composers:
  • Weber, Carl Maria von
Detailed Instrumentation: Clarinet and Piano

Duration: 20 minutes

Description: GRAND DUO CONCERTANT, Op. 48 / J. 204 was composed in 1815–1816 by Carl Maria von Weber (1786–1826) for the celebrated clarinet virtuoso Heinrich Joseph Baermann, whose artistry inspired several of Weber’s finest works for the instrument. Written at a time when the clarinet was rapidly expanding its expressive and technical possibilities, the piece blends chamber intimacy with concerto-like brilliance over the course of its three movements. Today GRAND DUO CONCERTANT stands as one of the cornerstones of the clarinet repertoire, frequently performed in recital and competition settings. Reprint edition.
