Duration: 4 minutes
Description: Carl Albert Hermann Teike (1864-1922) was a German composer of over 100 military marches and 20 concert works. Learning to play a variety of instruments when 14, he joined the army in Württemberg at 19, playing as a hornist and percussionist in the 123rd König Karls Regiment. During his time there, Teike began to compose military marches, including ALTE KAMERADEN MARSCH, Heeresmarsch II, 150 (translated to OLD COMRADES). When his bandmaster expressed disapproval of the march, Teike resigned from the army. After a publisher picked the work up, it became one of the most popular marches in the world. Teike’s GRAF ZEPPELIN MARSCH (also tited MARCH OF THE TEUTONS) was written in 1903, and is dedicated to Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin. Reprint edition.
