Description: CHANTS D’AUVERGNE (SONGS FROM THE AUVERGNE) is a five volume collection of folk songs from the Auvergne region of France, adapted by French composer Joseph Canteloube (1879-1957) for soprano and orchestra or piano. The most well-known song from the collections is BAÏLÈRO (sometimes called LE BAYLERE or THE SHEPHERD’S SONG), which is included in Volume 1. Songs in Volume 2: 1. Pastourelle; 2. Text is in French and the local language dialect, Auvergnat, a dialect of Occitan. Reprint edition.
