Description: This work for solo clarinet and orchestra was written for clarinetist David Shifrin and commissioned by a consortium of the Wichita, Akron, and Long Beach Symphony Orchestras. It is in four movements: 1. “The soul remembering its loneliness shudders in many cradles” (Yeats); 2. “Who dreamed that beauty passes like a dream” (Yeats); 3. Recitative; 4. “The soul recovers radical innocence” (Yeats).
