Description: TANTALUSQUALEN is an operetta by Franz von Suppé (1819-1895). It dramatizes the Greek myth of Tantalus, a son of Zeus who is punished for offending the gods by being forced to stand eternally in a pool of water under a fruit tree but unable to eat or drink. While the operetta is rarely performed today, TANTALUSQUALEN OVERTURE remains a scintillating concert piece on its own. Instrumentation: 1+Picc.2.2.2: 4.2.3.0: Timp.Perc(2): Str (9-8-7-6-5 in set). Reprint edition.
