Description: Between 1917 and 1923, Darius Milhaud (1892-1974) wrote a series of six three-movement SYMPHONIES FOR SMALL ORCHESTRA. Crafted on a miniature scale, they exhibit the composer’s developing polytonalism, as well as an interest in Latin American folk rhythm and melody. CHAMBER SYMPHONY NO. 5: DIXTUOR D’INSTRUMENTS A VENT, Op. 75 was written in 1922 for a commission by Italian Radio. First performed at Champs-Elysées in Paris the next year, the symphony is dedicated to Marya Freùnd, whom Milhaud had conducted in the premiere of Schoenberg’s PIERROT LUNAIRE. Instrumentation: 2(2nd dPicc).1+1(EH).1+1(BCl).2: 2.0.0.0. Reprint edition.
